Heidi Marissa Cannon (BoomBoom)

My name is Heidi Cannon and I'm full of energy and passion and drive! I'm non stop as most people would say. I try and live each day to its extreme fullest. I have always been active my entire life I'm starting out competing in martial arts to racing motocross to dancing professionally to now training full-time I'm a busy bee.

I got into fitness competitions four years ago when I started to prep for my wedding it it always been in the back of my head to compete at one point in my life but never knew it would turn into what it has today. I'm a proud wbff pro, Magnum nutraceuticals athlete & sponsored freak off my leash athlete. owner and creator of Mrs. Cannon's Baking app (which is baking with protein) as well as I have many new projects on the horizon that will be coming out in the next few months.

My biggest philosophy in life is go for it! You're never too old to try something new and if one door doesn't open then another one sure will never give up on yourself.

Fitness story

I have always be a bit of tomboy since I was young .Anything  from riding dirt bikes to martial arts I was into it. I used to work out when I was in my early teens with my high school guy friends but never knew what the heck I was doing, I usually would end up on the treadmill and not lifting any weights. I can remember in grade 12 picking up my first fitness magazine and thinking I wanted to look like the girl on the cover. I always wanted to do a fitness competition but that opportunity didn't arise until one of my friends started to train me for my wedding day. I wanted to get into the best shape ever for that day, so I started to train five days a week and totally got hooked. I never felt so strong in my entire life. I entered in my first show few months after my wedding and never looked back.

Competition summary

Entered in my first fitness competition with the BCAbba and placed second. I did a belly dance inspired fitness routine, it was super fun and the cloud loved it ! Two weeks later I entered in WBFF fitness model and place third three weeks after that, I went to BC's and place top five for fitness. I was addicted from this point on trained for the rest of the year and competed again the following year 2012 in
WBFF fitness model where I won my pro card. I took 2013 off, only for the fact I put my husband through four competitions in the first year of our marriage LOL anyone knows how demanding it is to do a show will agree with me this is a lot for the first year of marriage. I competed in WBFF worlds 2014 where I got third call outs and again this year 2015 where I achieve second call outs in WBFF fitness model. Excited  for 2016 and what it has to bring

Describe your competition experiences

I really enjoyed competing in all of my shows I don't have one that particularly stands out that I had any extreme bad or good experiences. With each so I do know what to work on, this year for example I wished I would've brought my legs in a lot more and as well not rushed so much on stage. This was a tough one to swallow for me since I am a professional dancer and I dance on stage and perform quite regularly. I think I psyched myself out too much this year and didn't slow down and enjoy the moment of being on stage.

Detailed training philosophy

My training philosophy is simple, don't stop LOL. I usually never take days off on my so-called rest days I'm usually either dancing or riding my dirtbike or even going for a light run. A lot of people I find make it like a job workout  five days a week have two days off so on and so forth. My philosophy is if you love it ,why wouldn't you do it. I love to be active and I enjoy it more than anything else I can't just sit on the couch and watch TV it's just not my thing I'd rather be moving.

Detailed nutritional philosophy

My philosophy is simple, non competition training - Good calories in: Fats/ Crabs /Proteins & lots Greens. As well as allowing ones self to indulge in a cheat meal twice a week. I don't feel bad if I eat a cookie because I know ill put in the hard work to work it off. Now that being said that doesn't mean I eat cookies every day it just means im more mindful of what im putting in my body.
